A project engineer Deployed at IIT-Bombay Makerspace to solve complex problems in running MS101 Course
About MS-101 course
MS101 is a compulsary UG course undergone by IIT-B first year students. This course replaces traditional mechanical workshop. Each year around 1500 students undergo this course, and get exposure of industrial leading machines CNC machines like 3D printers and Laser cutters. At the end of semester students have to make a project by using the machines.
MY ROLES IN RUNNING MS101 COURSE
Mentor

Mentor the students during project session, help them in solving their problems and suggest probable solution (not disclosing entire solution to let them think hard on the problem). Communicate in effective and friendly manner so students do not hesitate in asking for the doubts. During demo sessions explaining them about the machines such that they find it interesting, and they are able to link it to the practical real life usage rather then boring theory lectures of professors. The the feedback from the students was amazing they were actually enjoying the way i give them the machine demos in fun and playful manner.
Drone Doctor and pilot(not the certified one)

Can fly unstable drones made by students with ease. The drones which lack flight controller(mainly pressure sensor) so controlling the altitude( throttle ) of the drone was a highly challenging task but I can do that with ease.
Was easily able to point out the problem in drone by flight testing it and communicating to other team so they can rectify the problem and fix the drone.
Design Engineer

Before the semester starts have to bring up a design which can be easily replicated by students and also teach them basics designing principles. After making a effective and learnable designs, the task is to make a documentation which students can follow along with during the project session. The documentation is initially sent to the respective professors for review and then finally given to students. The language of document should be such that it is easily understandable to students, and effectively communicate the procedure for design, points that needs to be take care of during the design process.
Random Teaching Stuffs

Sometimes my job description actually includes teaching TAs( Mtech, Phd students ) fusion 360 generative design in IITB mechanical engineering department. There were two instances when i got to teach the students . IN first instance i solved orthographic Projection problems for students to give them step by step idea how to approach the problem. IN second instance i had to teach the TA’s a new concept in Fusion 360 i.e generative design. so I taught them how to create generative designs in fusion 360 taking drone frame design as an example. Also explained them the documentation on frame designing i made for students.
Maintainance Inspector

Had given a responsibility by our CEO to me that i have to check every machine, after the maintenance and report if maintenance is not done properly by the lab engineer via a weekly report. Some times it was difficult to judge weather maintenance of 3D printer is done of not , so i came up with an idea i,e to emborse the maintenance date on the 3D test print. The management included inspection of 42 3D printers , 7 laser cutters, 6 lathes, 6 milling machines, 12 drill machines.
Collaboration

I thrive in collaborative environments where ideas flow freely. I've had the privilege of collaborating with talented individuals from different disciplines. Whether it's brainstorming with fellow designers or working closely with developers, I believe that the best results emerge when minds come together to create something exceptional.
